Capodichino airport public realm redesign
Metropolitana Linea 1 has been designed to connect all transport types across Naples by offering a series of ‘hubs’ along the route allowing passengers to change for rail, airline, bus and ferry services at different stations. The project implies a policy of enhancement of public realm surrounding the hub.
AWP was invited by Rogers Stirk Harbour and partners to join the design team for the landscaping and public realm aspects of two different stations.
Naples Airport surroundings urban realm. Our proposal aims to create legible, functional, flexible and welcoming spaces to be experienced with a variety of different uses. Our ambition is to create an oasis in the heart of the complex, to preserve the magnificent existing pine trees with a design both innovative and supple. The airport and retail transit area are shaped into a flexible “breathing space”, a place for travels, exchanges and rest. Slow and rapid circulations co-exist: hardscape surfaces are designed to give the predominant sense of a “Piazza”.
La ligne de métro Linéa 1 a été créée pour connecter tous les types de transports à Naples. Elle relie à travers la ville plusieurs points permettant aux voyageurs d’accéder à une grande plateforme de correspondances vers les métro, bus, trains, tramways, ferry, aéroports.
Les architectes Richard Rogers, Stirk, Harbour and partners chargés de la conception de deux nouvelles stations de métro, à l’aéroport de Naples Capodichino et sur la place Santa Maria del Pianto, nous ont invités à définir le plan d’aménagement paysager, afin de valoriser les espaces publics environnants.
Nous proposons de faire de ces zones de transits des espaces lisibles et flexibles, accueillant des usages multiples. Ils sont conçus comme des oasis au cœur de ce réseau complexe, préservant la végétation alentours et offrant un cadre doux et souple aux voyageurs.
